An anal abscess, which is an infected wound that drains pus from your anus, is typically the cause of an anal fistula. A tunnel from your anus to the external skin may be formed by the draining abscess. The main symptoms are redness, swelling, and anal pain. The main course of treatment is surgery. An irregular tube that forms from inside your anus to the skin outside is called an anal fistula. Your anal glands are located in the upper portion of your anus, or butthole, where it typically grows. A fistula may form as a result of infection-related leakage from these glands. We refer to this infection as a perianal abscess. A hole in the skin next to your anus is called an anal fistula. In reality, the hole is the outermost section of the tunnel that joins the internal abscess. It may leak fluid, such as blood, pus, or feces, especially if you touch the skin near it. While the remainder of the tunnel is still present, some older fistulas may seal at the opening. Until the fistula reopens to release the drainage, this results in pain and edema.
