Liver Specialist

The liver is situated above the stomach, right kidney, and intestines in the upper right section of the abdominal cavity, under the diaphragm. The liver is a dark reddish-brown, cone-shaped organ that weighs roughly three pounds. The liver receives blood from two different sources, which include the following: The hepatic artery provides blood that is oxygenated. Blood rich in nutrients enters through the hepatic portal vein. At any given time, the liver contains around one pint of the body's blood supply. There are two primary lobes in the liver. Each of the eight segments that comprise both include 1,000 lobules (small lobes). The common hepatic duct is formed by the connections between these lobules and tiny ducts, or tubes, that join with bigger ducts. The bile produced by the liver cells is transported by the common hepatic duct to the gallbladder and duodenum, which is the first segment of the small intestine.
